ABOUT

Luke grew up in Oneonta, Alabama, a place that a New York financial periodical called, “a middle-of-nowhere town.” Other sources say Oneonta is the center of the universe. As a kid, poking around where he shouldn’t have, Luke discovered tunnels beneath downtown (which were an accidental byproduct of the rebuild after The Flood of 1925) and met a troop of classically-trained painters and writers who had made that space their home. He studied the arts with them for years, beneath the town. He also learned from above-ground teachers, like Moss, Kilgore, Sherror, Sanders, and Burdette. As he learned, Luke created art and stored it in a sandstone vault in the tunnels underneath Oneonta.

Like others, Luke drifted away from the center of the universe. He went to a fine school and met all sorts of people. He learned to fly and piloted planes on the far side of the world, even into a place called The Valley of Death. When he came home, Luke met a girl, fell in love, and made a big family in Alabama. With a new family, he wanted to be home, not on the far side of the world. So, he studied law and got a nice legal job in Montgomery.

After exploring the world, making a family, and getting a job, Luke grew a sweet beard. One day while stroking his beard, he decided to go back to Oneonta to look for his art in the vault under the town. He found the tunnels, long abandoned by the troop of artists. He also found the vault, but all of his work had been eaten by worms. In fact, healthy worms filled the entire vault. Luke vowed to create new art and to place it in a safer place, like the internet. He is doing that now, placing his new art on this website. You can buy it if you want.

Sometimes Luke and his family get in tubes and float down a river together, like in the above photograph. He likes that very much.
